Different Styles Of Wedding Photography

Photojournalist / documentary

This style if done properly is extremely highly sought after. Those with artistic sensibilites appreciate this approach very much and is very individual creating wonderful pictures that capture the imagination. The presentation can be either black and white (thus creating timelesseness) or in colour. The skill level is high risk and very few true practitioners exist in the UK. Usually, they would be very experienced in several genres of photography. In lay persons terms, think Sunday newspaper magazine supplement such as the Times, guardian, Telegraph and that is the quality and approach you would have applied to your wedding day.

An example is www.jeffascough.com

Fine art

Popular amongst many photographers and would possibly be my choice for my wedding book. In lay terms it focuses on the couple, the ambience, the detail and beauty of the day. Two photographers spring to mind as showcasing this genre very well.

traditional wedding photographywww.jonaspeterson.com and www.josevilla.com

Of course theses two examples are high class and their work is often outstanding.

However, they prefer to work with enthusiastic couples and they are rewarded with unbelievable accounts of their special day. My advice to couples who are thinking of getting married to seriously give a little time and effort and this is multiplied by a talented photographer. To have your day turned in a piece of artwork is something I know myself I would love to have.

Traditional wedding photography

Most photographers work with this formal style in mind and traditional "posed" photography certainly is fine if you that is what you want. However, the more posed photography, usually the lower the skills of the photographer. A lot and I mean 40-70% of wedding photographers are amateur or "semi-pro" and can disguise this by charging high-end professional rates. Jonas Peterson is one of the best 5 wedding photographers and his prices start at (approx) £2200.

I hope I have not confused you and provided a little useful advice...
