Professional Wedding planning at the highest standards

article by Weddings by Jo

My experience of wedding planning began in 2000 when I planned my first wedding and things were so different back then and I can say that weddings have come a long way.  There are more choices than ever to tempt you and I can promise you will change your mind many times about certain things to ensure you turn your dreams into a reality.
It can be extremely overwhelming when you realise just how much you have to book and choose to achieve your dream day.  It is not only the case that you need to book a church, a venue and choose a fabulous dress, but you need to choose a florist,  a photographer, entertainment and catering…… The list goes on and on, especially these days with the world of weddings becoming more extravagant by the year with brides eagerly following in the footsteps of celebrity weddings.
Budget? Wedding planners are also able to provide assistance in this area to ensure you stay on track.   It is so easy to get carried away when you are planning such an important event, believe me I was the same when planning my second wedding and many brides over spend, but a wedding planner is trained to help set a budget from the start and ensure it sticks, although it is up to the client how much more they wish to spend if necessary.
A lot of my clients are surprised by how much things actually cost and therefore often underestimate which is why budgets do go over.
Having a wedding planner puts all the chaos into specialised order and planning your big day will become exciting and enjoyable once again.
Not only does a wedding planner oversee all the bookings and the little details, but they are knowledgeable in the field. A good wedding planner will be constantly networking with companies locally and nationally and have suppliers lists as long as your arm to ensure you have as many suppliers to choose from as you would like.  As always it is ideal to have between three and five different selections of supplier from each different section. A planner should know exactly where to go, saving you precious time and money to search for what you want.
When you think of your wedding day and all the plans you have made  you think of everything being perfect, but a wedding planner always will look beyond that by thinking ahead of everything that could go wrong, the wedding planner is able to form and provide contingency plans should the worst happen.  They will always co-ordinate with all the suppliers, so if something has to be changed a week before the wedding, the planner has it all in control; Ask yourself what if there is a power cut or if it rains on an outdoor wedding or if there is a stain on your dress?  All these things and more will be thought of by the wedding planner and are able to take control of a situation.
A good wedding planner will not “take over” your wedding but instead they will guide you to make informed decisions.  They can often secure discounts which are always a god send and Weddings by Jo do not take commission for two reasons;

  1. We do not agree with it ethically
  2. We would much rather pass the discount on to you and in some cases the savings that can be made by a planner securing discounts often pays for the planner itself!

Ask yourself surely that has got to be worth it.  And what’s more you can sit back and relax knowing your wedding is in safe hands.
